Mark HughesMark Hughes has officially been confirmed as Man City manager, replacing Sven Goran Eriksson with immediate effect.

The Welshman leaves his Blackburn post after becoming disillusioned with the club’s ambitions in recent times. Hughes has put pen to paper on a 3-year contract with the Eastlands club. The 44-year-old manager will be officially be unveiled at a press conference tomorrow morning. Read more

According to recent news reports, Sven Goran Eriksson is to be sacked by Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra at the end of the season following a run of differing form since Christmas. Eriksson was called in for a meeting following City’s defeat to Fulham on Saturday and was told that he would be replaced after the clubs two remaining fixtures against Middlesbrough and Liverpool respectively.
