Russia have dumped the Netherlands out of Euro 2008 with a fine performance, once again inspired by Andrei Arshavin. With the scores level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, Russia scored twice in extra time to end the Netherlands’ hopes.

Spain 2 v 1 Sweden, Greece 0 v Russia 1
Yesterday saw group D take the stage for the second round of matches. Spain met Sweden for a chance to win the group with one game remaining, and they started well. After just 15 minutes Liverpool’s Fernando Torres opened the deadlock, and it was hard not to feel that the Swedes were set to be dispatched as easily as Russia were 4 days ago. Read more

Spain 4-1 Russia, Sweden 2-0 Greece.
The 4th day of Euro 2008 was Group D’s chance to show us what they can do - or in the case of holders Greece, what they can’t do.
The afternoon match saw the much fancied Spanish meet Russia in Innsbruck. With the Spanish heavily backed to win the tournament, today was their opportunity to prove they are worthy. They did so in some style, with a hat-trick from David Villa. Read more
