Ferrari Continue Impressive Form in Monaco

Formula 1 LogoFelipe Massa managed to grab his second successive pole in Monaco to ensure a Ferrari front row for tomorrow’s race.

With McLaren used to dominating the Monte Carlo circuit, it was a surprise to some to see the Ferrari’s perform so impressively. However, based on the season so far, it really isn’t that much of a surprise! McLaren have been second best this year, after a fantastic season in 2007.

Hamilton qualified in 3rd alongside team-mate Kovalainen. With the Monte Carlo famously difficult (or almost impossible) for passing, the race is likely to be won on race strategy, and pit-stop performance.

Meanwhile, David Coulthard was involved in a high-speed accident. The Scot, who qualified in 10th, smashed into the barriers at 115mph after emerging from the tunnel with both his right wheels missing. The driver was unhurt, but was unable to compete in the second qualifying session.

The latest forecast for Sunday’s race shows the possibility of showers, which could make for challenging conditions for the glamorous street circuit.
