Robinho Desperate to Join Chelsea

Robinho to Join Chelsea? Robinho has made it clear that he is desperate to leave Real Madrid for Stamford Bridge after Chelsea had a £20million offer for the Brazilian rejected.

The winger/striker has scored 93 goals in 266 professional club appearances while averaging 1 goal every 2 games for the Brazilian national side. The 24-year-old has made 101 appearances for Real, scoring 25 times in the process.

When rejecting Chelsea’s offer, Real president Roman Calderon insisted Robinho would be staying at the Bernabéu.

However, Robinho himself has now told Spanish news agency EFE that he wants the transfer to be completed, saying;

“I want to leave. I’ve told the president, the directors and the coach. I want to play in the Premier League. Chelsea have a great squad, a great team and their offer is good for me and for the team.

“I’m telling the truth. I want to leave and I have got the character to tell the press that I’m not aiming to stay at Real.

“It isn’t because of money, it is simply because I want to leave. My personal aim is to be the best player in the world and that isn’t going to be possible at Real Madrid.

“I’ve played three seasons at Real Madrid and have given everything.

“I think my period at Real Madrid has come to an end. I hope the directors reach an agreement with Chelsea to resolve my situation as quickly as possible.”

Robinho’s agent recently said he believed Real were undervaluing his importance when they were prepared to use him as a part of the failed bid to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Madrid (read more about this here)

It seems that everyone is desperate to do the deal - with the exception of Real themselves. Rumours in the press today suggest that Chelsea have raised their offer to over £28million in an attempt to secure the deal.
