Niko Kranjcar to Sign for Arsenal?

May 5, 2008

Arsene Wenger looks set to make Niko Kranjcar his replacement for outgoing Alexander Hleb and is expected to pay Portsmouth £12 million for his services.

Wenger has long admired the 23-year-old Croatian midfielder and his been tracking him since his time in the Croatian league with Dinamo Zagreb and Hadjuk.

Hleb looks to be on his way out of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger has reacted angrily to Inter Milan’s ‘illegal’ approach of the player. Wenger said on the Arsenal website;

“I will of course do it [report them to FIFA], with Inter Milan especially,” said Wenger. “Because of what they did. I now know more about what happened over there [in Milan]. I will keep the information for those who need to know it. I don’t want to speak much more on that but it is unfair what happened.”

According to some press reports today, Wenger is also interested in signing striker Obafemi Martins from Newcastle for £15 million.
