Lampard to Inter, Berbatov to Man Utd

July 13, 2008 by CLDsport

Another day of transfer rumours. Speculation and more speculation seems to be rife - possibly due to the boredom created by the space vacated by Euro 2008! It’s increasingly difficult to sort the fact from the fiction, but the team at CLDsport are doing our best to do just that.

According to an English newspaper report today, Lampard will sign a pre-contract agreement with Inter on the 1st January - meaning he will not be linking up with former boss Mourinho before the start of the season. The deal could be worth up to £160,000 a week when it finally goes ahead.

According to another newspaper though, Inter have not ruled out signing Lampard before the start of the season, with the possibility of Brazilian striker Adriano being used as bait in a £15million deal.

Scolari is reportedly interested in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho as a replacement for Lampard. Moutinho is a player who CLDsport picked as one of our players to watch out for in the early stages of Euro 2008.

Across London, and more specifically White Hart Lane, and Dimitar Berbatov has once again been the target of transfer rumours. Berbatov has supposedly been leaving Tottenham pretty much since the day he arrived at the club.

Latest reports suggest that the club have agreed a £24million deal for the Bulgarian with long-time admirers Manchester United, but the deal is on hold until Spurs find a replacement. According to the same paper, Roque Santa Cruz is a possible target, although he has already been linked with Arsenal.

Spurs are also supposedly attempting to hijack Barcelona’s signing of Russian superstar Andrei Arshavin and are ready to offer Zenit St Petersburg £18million. The deal seems very unlikely though, considering the player spent the majority of Euro 2008 telling the press it’s his dream to play for Barcelona. CLDsport suggests this a story to ignore!

International team-mate Roman Pavlyuchenko is another possible target, along with Luis Garcia (as we reported yesterday).

With David Bentley seemingly on his way to Spurs, Blackburn manager Paul Ince has set his targets on Valencia winger Joaquin as a replacement in a deal worth £16million.

Finally, Gareth Barry’s ‘dream move’ to Liverpool could be hijacked by Arsenal. With current club Aston Villa locked in a bitter row with Liverpool, Arsenal are reportedly looking to offer Barry a move away from a club that has banned him from the premises. Surely one of the most bizarre circumstances in recent years!
