Adebayor Deal Back On?

Arsenal LogoIt’s becoming increasingly hard to predict the transfer activity this summer. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still in the balance, along with Lampard (a target for Inter Milan), and Alexander Hleb. It’s Hleb’s Arsenal team mate Emanuel Adebayor that now looks most likely to be on his way out, after the club - reportedly - lowered their asking price.

Adebayor has been linked with a move to AC Milan throughout the summer, however, the deal looked to be dead after the North London club asked for £35million for the forward. Adebayor himself then stated that he was happy at Arsenal.

Arsenal have now almost halved their asking price - according to AC Milan agent Vincenzo Morabito. Morabito said:

“We’re working to make the deal easier. We’re arriving at more reasonable figures. They’re still a lot, but much less than the 45m euros that were initially asked for. A bit more than half. More than that of Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba but they are a little bit older.”

In another twist, Arsene Wenger originally rejected any offer for the 24-year-old, telling Milan that he was ‘not for sale’.

Since then, according to Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, the club have made further contact, stating that they ‘will consider a deal if it still interests you’.

Who would replace Adebayor? That’s something only Wenger knows - although he has made clear his interest in Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. There are also reports circulating that the Frenchman is interested in £10million rated Obafemi Martins of Newcastle.

The club have already secured the signing of Samir Nasri from Marseille this summer for an undisclosed fee - although thought to be in the region of £15million.
