England Squad For Czech Republic Friendly Announced
August 16, 2008 by CLDsport
England coach Fabio Capello has announced his 23-man squad for Wednesday’s friendly with the Czech Republic at Wembley.
Emile Heskey has been recalled to the squad, almost a year after his last international appearance in the 3-0 win over Russia last September.
Peter Crouch, who transferred to Portsmouth from Liverpool this summer, is a surprise exclusion from the squad.
Dean Ashton may have been set for a place in the squad, especially as Capello was at Upton Park today to see him score twice in the Hammers 2-1 win over Wigan. However, the 24-year-old - who broke his leg 2 years ago after being called up by Steve McClaren - was ruled out when he left the field with a calf injury.
