Paul Ince Confirmed as Blackburn Manager
June 22, 2008 by CLDsport
Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the appointment of Paul Ince - as reported by CLDsport here. Ince was reportedly Blackburn’s first choice replacement for Mark Hughes, and leaves MK Dons with immediate effect.
A statement released on the club website simply states:
BLACKBURN Rovers can today announce that Paul Ince has been appointed the new manager of the football club.
‘Ince has signed a 3-year contract. A press conference will be held at Ewood Park midday on Tuesday.’
The 40-year-old joined MK Dons in 2007 after keeping Macclesfield in the football league. In his first season with the Dons, he led the team to the League Two title, and also won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. His lower league success has earned him a great reputation, as recent as this month Leicester approached the club with a desire to hire the former Man Utd, Liverpool, Inter Milan, West Ham and England midfielder.
The stumbling block in Ince’s appointment was his lack of a UEFA Pro Licence. But, the Premier League gave special dispensation early this week to allow him to join. Ince has been given 2 years to gain his Pro Licence, a qualification that takes approximately one year to complete - or 240 hours of study.
