Congratulations to Man City who have had their Uefa Cup spot confirmed for the 2008/9 season.

The Premier League won an extra Uefa Cup spot due to finishing top of the UEFA Fair Play rankings. Man City finished 5th in the Fair Play league, but all teams above them have already qualified for Europe (Manchester Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham). Read more

Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg have beaten Glasgow Rangers 2-0 to win the UEFA Cup for the first time in their history.

Zenit started the match strongly and held possession well. Rangers struggled to get the ball out of their own half at times, and the first half was relatively scrappy.
