Pietersen Named As England Captain Following Vaughan’s Resignation

Kevin Pietersen Confirmed as England CaptainKevin Pieterson has been confirmed as England captain following the surprise resignation of Michael Vaughan on Sunday.

Vaughan - England’s most successful test captain - announced his decision following England’s defeat to South Africa at Edgbaston, which resulted in them being 2-0 down in the series with just one match remaining.

England have won 26 tests out of 51 under Vaughan’s leadership (just under 51%) and is the highest win rate of any former captain. He famously led the team to Ashes victory in 2005 for the first time in 18 years. Read more

Andy Murray Wins Cincinnati Masters21-year-old Andy Murray has moved up to number 6 in the world rankings after he won the Cincinnati Masters on Sunday.

Murray beat world number 3 Novak Djokovic to win his first Masters Series tournament, and jump 3 places in the world rankings.

Djokovic was defeated by a superior Andy Murray 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) in two hours and 23 minutes of play, after losing to the Scot just last week in the Toronto Masters. Murray always looked like winning yesterday’s final, having looked impressive throughout. Read more
